MERRY CHRISTMAS 2006

Dearest Loved Ones,

The Life of the Frederick Family in 2006 -

This JANUARY, Kaelyn celebrated her 6th birthday and also had to have plastic surgery on her thumb. We try to remember just the birthday part (the surgery part was too traumatic for mom. Dr. Dad seemed to keep his cool) On her birthday, she enjoyed going on a scavenger hunt around town to all of her favorite places. She not only ate McDonalds, but also got fresh Krispy Kreme donuts hot off the conveyer belt. (For those of you who do not know - Winston-Salem, NC, is the corporate headquarters for Krispy Kreme Donuts, yum, yum!)

FEBRUARY brought Justin's mother and sister, Dawn, for a visit all the way from Oklahoma. They were brave and drove the distance with Dawn's two young daughters.

MARCH, came and went.

This APRIL we celebrated Kenton's 3rd birthday! Can anyone take a guess what kind of birthday party Kenton had? If you answered STAR WARS - you're right! (Like it was that hard to answer. Anyone who knows Kenton - knows he is absolutely obsessed with STAR WARS.)

MAY kept us busy. Emma began cruising around the furniture. Time to rebaby-proof the house to a standing child's point-of-view.

JUNE we headed for the ocean! - Katie's ultimate vacation spot on the east coast. We stayed in Williamsburg, VA and Virginia Beach, VA (Katie's childhood home) She enjoyed reliving her childhood memories there.

In JULY Justin turned the big 31! He was able to take a few days off work and relax from all of hustle and bustle of the hospital. Apparently, from Justin's point of view he never celebrated his birthday as a child, because they were always on vacation - his parents seem to disagree. In order to hush him on the matter, his parents flew in from Oklahoma and threw him a big birthday bash. They gave him a birthday worth not forgetting. It was great to have them here and of course the kids love being spoiled by their grandparents.

In AUGUST Emma turned 1 years old. They grow up to fast! She began walking the week of her 1st birthday and straight into running.

SEPTEMBER, Kaelyn enjoyed starting school. Justin enjoyed having some cooler weather. Emma and Kenton enjoyed (and still do) making messes. Katie enjoyed learning how to make a blog! Finally, I am out of the dark ages of technology. However, my Aunt Marge still wants to know, "What the he*% is a blog?"

This OCTOBER, we headed WEST to Provo, UT - our old stomping ground. We had a fabulous vacation and enjoyed visiting our friends there and checking out some of our favorite places. Katie thoroughly enjoyed her chocolate milk from the BYU Creamery! Justin got his "fix" for the west - it will last maybe a week or two and then he'll be itching to get out there again!

NOVEMBER brought Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving brought people, lots of people to our house (everyone in Katie's family). All in all, we had 15 people at our table. We topped off the weekend by playing, "Settlers." We all became very addicted and couldn't wait until the kids went to bed so we could play again!

And here we are at DECEMBER - one of our favorite times of year. Indeed, we have been playing the Christmas music since Thanksgiving. We look forward to another houseful this Christmas with Katie and Justin's extended family.

We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We love all of you!

Love, Justin, Katie, Kaelyn, Kenton, and Emma

HAPPY NEW YEAR 1978!

It is amazing the memories that flood back when I look at some of these old photos! We had good times at Grandmom and Poppy's House on New Year's Eve. Great food, good old dancing, and don't forgot, the many hugs and kisses given at the stroke of mid-night!

This one is for you Jen! We had great times. Rolos, cokes in the bottle, trying to keep the basement door closed before Poppy yelled, "close the basement door!" - all the way to playing Barbie (my favorite was the pool with the shower and the flushable toilet) and getting italian ices up the street!

HALLOWEEN

Halloween at our house consisted of apple bobbing, eating donuts off of a string, twister, trick-or-treating, good food, and great friends and family!

FAMILY PORTRAIT

It seems like this was only yesterday!

EMMA GETS LOVES!

Ethan hands out the hugs on Thanks-
giving day! Emma sure did get as many as she could.

GOING WEST

Take a peak at our trip west to Utah!
We were able to stay with our good friends, Vern and Shelly. They were more than hospitable - They were wonderful and so generous! We are extremely grateful for their friendship. While we were there, we also saw Justin's sister, Sarah, my best friends from teaching, Jaclyn and Rebecca (They are a blast!) and Justin's mission president and his wife. We had the time of our lives and enjoyed every minute of our vacation!

Justin catches big air!!!

Kenton catches big air!!! - trying to be like Dad.

Kaelyn posing once again!

Kenton and his tongue!

Emma relaxing in the back yard - taking it all in!

There was so much to see on our trip. However, the kids would prefer to play in Shelly and Vern's backyard. Thus, this is where most of our pictures were taken.

SERGIO"S BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE SERGIO!

We are so sorry that we could not be there for your birthday, but we wanted to send a birthday wish out to you!

Sergio - We searched high and low to find the perfect birthday present for you. To our surprise, it was not as easy of a task as we thought it would be. Kenton thought he might get something for you native to your homeland. Kenton took a quick flight down to Mexico, but got caught up in all of the fun stuff to do down there, that he forgot to look for a birthday present. Before, he knew it - it was time to catch his flight home. Kenton was hoping that Kaelyn might have found the perfect something while she was out looking for a present. He was keeping his fingers crossed.

In the meantime, Kaelyn had hopped on over to the County Fair in search of some unique treasure for you. Unfortanately, all she could come across was a ride on a vintage fire truck. She figured this would be perfect for her Papaw (considering he was a fire fighter for more than 20 years), but not up her Uncle Sergio's alley. Now it was up to Emma . . .

Emma came up with this great idea! She had the perfect present for her Uncle Sergio. She could put on a surprise birthday party for you - Emma put up balloons and streamers. She even put out party plates and hats. Then, she got busy in the kitchen and baked a cake. She knew she could after reading, "Froggy Bakes a Cake." - (she figured she would omit the chocolate covered flies with this cake though."

Emma couldn't help herself - the cake was too good! She ate the whole thing before she could even call you up and invite you over.

It was all up to Kenton to pull something together quick. He might not have a present in hand for you, but he has a great voice and a broadway debut behind him. - He would serenade you . . . here is Kenton in full costume singing, "Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!"

We Love You, Sergio!

Happy Birthday to You and many Moooorrrre!

THE WIGGLES LIVE

THE WIGGLES LIVE!
Sarah and Sergio invited us to Charlottesville, VA to go see the Wiggles with them in the new arena built right across the street from their house. No troubles with parking or taking an hour to get home. We just walked right in and walked right out when it was over. This picture to the left shows the Wiggles on stage with Dorothy the Dinosaur. Unfortunately, Greg (yellow shirt) was sick and he had Sam standing in for him.

Check out Murry Below!

As Murry walked by he stopped and shook Kenton's hand. Kenton was thrilled!

Kenton, Elli (his cousin), and Grandma Mary enjoy the show!

Elli, Kenton, and Katie pose for a picture as Jeff sings on stage!

Kenton waves goodbye Anthony at the end of the concert.
It was a great time for all of us. We enjoyed watching the kids get so excited singing and dancing with THE WIGGLES!

PAPAW'S BIRTHDAY

Emma wanted desperately to attend her Papaw's Birthday Party! She had to come up with a plan to get there- Ah-hah! She would flag down the postman by batting her pretty blue eyes and waving a makeshift sign.

Her sign read as follows, "HEY Mr. Postman, Can you take me to my Papaw's house?"

Kenton caught wind of what Emma was up to and didn't want to miss out on the party either, so he convinced her to let him share in the efforts of flagging the postman down!

All the commotion Emma and Kenton were causing made Kaelyn pull her head out of her favorite book to come and see what was going on. She too wanted to take part in waving the postman down!

Unfortuantely, the postman said he could not take any live cargo through the mail. Well, you can imagine what a dissappointment this was to Emma and her siblings. Emma couldn't hold back the tears (she thought this might cause the postman to have pity on her; unfortuantely, it did not work and she was left to figure out something else to do)

Emma figured that she would just have to send a message to her Papaw live via satellite. After a few trial runs Emma was able to get the video shot she was looking for - A serenade for her Papaw done by none other than his 3 beautiful, charming, delightful, and energetic grandchildren; Kaelyn, Kenton, and Emma.

So here it goes . . . . Please welcome Kaelyn, Kenton and Emma singing, "Happy Birthday" for their one and only Papaw!

Here's hoping you have a happy birthday! We all love and appreciate you. Wish we could be there to spend the special day with you and the family.
Love,
Justin & Katie
Emma had so much fun singing Happy Birthday to her Papaw that she decided to try her hand at Broadway. Check her out below at her Broadway debut singing, "Teasing Mister Alligator."
